“I feel like I have new spirit in me’ is how Saif Khan Asia Calling’s Pakistani correspondent felt after attending a four day training course on creative feature making in Jakarta. The course run by experienced trainer Suzanne Yates and Editor Rebecca Henschke focused on how to make sound-rich dynamic and powerful radio stories for KBR68H’s flagship regional current affairs program Asia Calling.
Correspondents from Pakistan, China and South Korea attended the training as well as two Jakarta based reporters. 68h’s Liza Deysilanhi found the course incredibly enlightening and said she learn ‘so many new things that I will do next time I am making a feature.” During the course all trainees made feature stories under the close watch of Suzanne and Rebecca. Matthew Swenson made a particularly powerful feature on why Indonesian women who are trafficked overseas keep going back and getting abuses. While Grace Wu from China says that she is returning to Beijing with new enthusiasm and passion for radio making. (Rebecca)
